Dear Kuyu,
A new system has been introduced whereby submissions are received on an on-going basis. This means that there is now no deadline as such. The next issue of WHR, Volume 6, Issue 1, is expected to be out in April 2007. When the submissions reach a certain level, they will be edited at the discretion of each of WHR's various Editors to be published in the April issue. The works not included will be considered for the following issue.
Submissions must be sent to each of our relevant Editors. For instance, if they are senryu you must send them to our Editor in charge of senryu. The list of these Editors and their submission guidelines (same format to all sectors) are set out after my notice in alphabetical order. They look complicated but they are not. So, please do not be daunted or put off by them.
We wish to continue to endeavour to present a unique magazine which, while deeply rooted in tradition, is full of new ideas and innovative features. It will continue to aim at the highest standards and top quality as before.
Please find in the following index the sectors you are interested in. Send your finest works to the Editors concerned whenever they are ready to be submitted.

2. WHAT IS BOOKMART: BookMart is a page in World Haiku Review where WHC members and readers may seek to advertise books written by themselves or by others. The books must be of interest to poets of haiku and related genres. We publish the book information on a bona-fide and neutral basis and this does not consitute our recommendation. It is intended to help the genuine wish of haiku poets in their earnest effort to have their poems read by others.

2. WHAT IS COLLABORATIVE VERSE: Collaborative verse is "linked" poetry verses which create a whole poem, and which are constructed by two or more participants. Collaborative linking is inspired by the Japanese genre known as renga or renku. WHCcollaborativeverse accepts traditional renku / renga and other linked genres such as rengay, new linked forms, linked tanka, linked cinquain, contemporary and experimental linked verse.
3. Please submit up to 4 # collaborative poems which are not considered elsewhere for publication.
4. The submittor of a work is responsible to obtain the permission for publication from all poets participating in the work.
5. ESSAYS and ARTICLES: Limit 1 new, original essay per author on topics of interest to poets working in collaborative styles of poetry. There is not a limit on essay length at this time. For essay submissions, include your brief biography, footnotes, and an introduction to yourself and your work as related to poetry. Articles and news of interest to renkujin and other collaborative verse poets may also be submitted. Single space main body of manuscript texts except where other formatting is necessary. 3. FORMAT: Send your image as an attached file in .jpg format, but do not optimize it. If your .jpg software gives you choices like min, med, high, max or low, med, high or 1 to 12, always pick the largest value.
4. LIMITS: You are limited to 3 (three) image submissions only (total; NOT per category).

GUIDELINES
1. WHO CAN SUBMIT: Submissions are open world-wide to readers of the World Haiku Review online.
2. SUBMISSIONS: Poets may submit 1 original haibun (see below).
a. Contemporary haibun come in many forms. We want to publish haibun that show a variety of these forms.
A basic element in most contemporary haibun is haibunic prose. Haibunic prose has many of the characteristics often associated with haiku:
present tense (and shifts of tense though predominant voice "present");
shortened or interesting syntax;
limit joining words (conjunctions), such as "and";
a sense of "being there"
rich descriptions of places and people
remembrances written as if being lived now;
and above all "brevity"
b. haibun with haiku - usually only one haiku but some people prefer more - this should link by association to the prose:
the haiku can either summarize the feeling or tone of the prose, but not repeat it;
or the haiku should carry on beyond the end point of the prose;
In short, just as haiku often contains an element of juxtaposition, so does the relationship between the prose and haiku.
3. ESSAYS and ARTICLES: Poets may submit 1 new, original essay on topics of interest to poets of haibun. There is no limitation on essay length at this time. For essay submissions, include your brief biography, footnotes, and an introduction to yourself and your work as related to poetry. 5. Classroom and workshop selections may be submitted. Please include a brief description of the workshop or class, including the name of the leader. Inquire of the editor if you have any questions.
6. ESSAYS and ARTICLES about haiku and related poetry as related to children, haiku in the classroom, etc., may be submitted. Limit is 1 essay or article per author. WHO CAN SUBMIT: Submissions are open only to members of WHChaikumultimedia at this time.
There will be 3 sections for member submissions:
Section 1. Art-Haiku: Submitter's original scanned art, digital art, modified photographs (anything but real -life photographs) + original haiku or original collaborations (with permission from the collaborator for publication) between poet and artist; "old" classic Japanese, haiku by pre-modern haiku masters may be paired with the artwork. However, we prefer the submitter's original haiku, or a collaborations with another poet or artist. The text must be integrated into the image. Evaluation will be based on the quality of the image + the relationship of the master's haiku to the image + the quality of the text placement.
Section 2: Photo-Haiku: Submitter's original photographs + original haiku or original collaborations between poet and photographer; "old" classic Japanese, haiku by pre-modern haiku masters may be paired with photograph, however, we prefer the submitter's original haiku, or a collaborations (with permission from the collaborator for publication) with another poet or photographer. The text may be placed on or below the image. Evaluation will be based on the quality of the photograph + the relationship of the master's

1. WHO CAN SUBMIT: Submissions are open world-wide to readers of the World Haiku Review online.

ACCEPTED GENRES: We are primarily interested in haiku (single, sequences and series are also accepted); Japanese poetic genres such as tanka, renga, renku, haibun and senryu are accepted; Poetry derived from Japanese and Asian genres are acceptable: haiku or tanka analogue, new linked forms, rengay, etc.
3. Separate each group of poetry by genre, preceded by the title of the genre (Example: HAIKU, TANKA, RENGAY, etc).
4. Members of the WHCrussian may submit 10 haiku or other type of verse, non-members may submit 3 verses. The verses should not be previously published in English in any magazines or at the Internet sites open to the public. 1. КТО МОЖЕТ ПОСЛАТЬ МАТЕРИАЛ ДЛЯ ПЕЧАТИ: Все читатели World Haiku Review.
2. ЖАНРЫ: Нас, прежде всего, интересуют хайку (отдельные, цепочки и серии также принимаются); японские поэтические жанры, такие как танка, ренга, ренку, хайбун и сенрю; стихи японских и азиатских жанров: аналоги хайку или танки, новые формы цепочек, ренгей и т.п.
3. Разделите ваш материал по жанрам, дав каждому жанру заглавие (например: ХАЙКУ, ТАНКА, РЕНГЕЙ и т.п.)
4. Члены форума WHCrussian могут послать на рассмотрение 10 хайку или стихов другого жанра, нечлены могут послать три стиха. Стихи не должны быть уже опубликованными на английском языке в бумажных журналах или в Интернете на сайтах со свободным доступом к ним. Вы всё ещё можете помещать ваши стихи - по одному за раз - на сайте форума WHCrussian с целью их перевода участниками до 1-го июля.
5. ЭССЕ и СТАТЬИ: можно послать на рассмотрение одно эссе на русском языке (с переводом на английский) на темы, представляющие интерес поэтам хайку и других жанров. Пока длина эссе не ограничивается. Вместе с эссе вы должны послать свою краткую биографию, примечания (библиографию), а также короткую информацию о себе и своей работе, связанной с поэзией. Статьи и новости, что могут представить интерес для русскоязычных поэтов хайку и другой сходной поэзии также могут быть посланы на рассмотрение редактора. Посылайте рукописи отдельно.
6. Все работы на русском языке должны быть с переводом на английский язык, по которому материал будет отбираться.
7. Печатать через один интервал.

2. WHAT IS WORLD KIGO: Kigo are season words and/or phrases which are integral to traditional haiku, as composed in Japan. Flora, fauna, weather, celestial and human events, food and other topics related to regional seasons world-wide are compiled in a database for study and use at WHCworldkigo.

Please submit up to 3 seasonal topics (in words/phrases) for your region or country, with a short paragraph of explanation or background about its appearance, use, history, etc. ( Also add links to internet pages, if possible, which illustrate the kigo.)
